Why We Need Positive Deviance

We need positive deviance because....

Change comes from the fringe

Black swan events while unpredictable, are inevitable

It is only by thinking differently that we will create solutions to our most pressing problems

Same ol’ same ol’ is uninspiring

Innovation and creativity are intrinsic to humans

Challenging the status quo is very cool, and where the future emerges

Counter-intuitive and paradoxical are the keys to our future

We need to develop positive deviance in our children, and in our work..

Our traditional teaching models are more about sameness than innovation

Our school systems are designed to produce mini automatrons to do the boring work of the modern factory

‘Don’t rock the boat’ is more culturally acceptable, but also builds fear of rocking the boat, and we need to rock the boat

Companies that rock the boat either fail quickly or become the next big thing

Companies that fear positive deviance are already dead, they just don’t know it

People who fear being a positive deviant are the walking dead. Vitality comes from creativity, innovation, change and being willing to ask a different set of questions.

At its core, positive deviance is about how can we...what is possible here...what do I need to see differently...?

Join the movement, celebrate your positive deviance.
