New Language to Support a Game Change in the Brave New World
In our brave new world we desperately need new language if we want a true game change. Some of this language is being created every day...words like google, twitter, email.... were not part of our lexicon a few short years ago.We struggle to find ways to describe things, roles, actions...because we don’t have the words. For those of us who are pushing the corners of the future every day, this becomes even more of a dilemma. For many years I tried to find a way to describe what I do when I work with people one-on-one. Coaching just didn’t do it, because coaching is a process, and is not actually what happens in the relationship. Then one day I happened across the word Amchara which is an ancient Celtic word meaning the cherished soul companion, the parent of one’s best self, trusted intimate of one’s secrets, reflection of one’s truest spirit. This describes exactly what kind of space I hold for people in my coaching, and while it is not in our common language now, let us hope that it moves there, because having an Amchara in your life is simply one of the most precious relationships we can have. As an
Amchara
, my work is one of the highest of high privileges. To see anothers soul in its glory and fullness, to know another at the soul level, to hold the mirror of reflection for that person to gaze at their own light and shadow, what greater work is there? It is such an honour and daily I am grateful. Shakespeare created words...some 2000 plus of them...many of them now common in our language today. He knew that our human experience was limited because we did not have the words and new language to describe experience.
Buckminster Fuller
also created words...big words like ephemeralisation. (doing more with less, ultimately everything with nothing). And then he used words in very specific ways...like synergy.

Synergy= the behaviour of the whole system unpredicted by the behaviour of their parts taken separately. For example, an explosive metal and a poisonous gas, when mixed together becomes a harmless white powder we sprinkle on food.In my own world I have created the word
Syzergy
Derived from the Greek word syzygy, which means union, paired, yoke and is most commonly used in astronomy to describe when two or more planets are in perfect alignment, Syzergy means the energy that is released when a person or people go into total alignment. The energy is both synergistic and sizzling. We often describe it as an” ah!” moment. Someone in syzergy is in alignment, or inner congruence. They have no parts of themselves that is out of synch with the other parts. There is an embodied resonance.

When we work with groups, the whole room can feel a Syzergy moment. We can be struggling away for hours, trying to find truth..common ground, a higher context...often right while we are in the most frustrating of places, when no light can be seen, no pathway forward, suddenly one person makes a comment...states a truth that is immediately so obvious we wonder how on earth we missed it, and the whole room relaxes and is still. That is the space of Syzergy. There is a silence and a complete knowing. We have found the essence, the core truth. We have reached our destination truth.

A brave new world up for the biggest game change of all requires a brave new language. We need words to describe new structures of commerce, new ways of being in partnership, both business and personal. (Marriage in its current form is a dinosaur!). We need words to describe the new roles we are creating for ourselves, roles that allow us to Follow our Bliss...do what we were encoded to do. We need new words and new language to describe the technologies that support us, the ways we interact. We also need to let go of words...words that no longer serve our future, like princess (which can exist in fairy tales, but is no longer part of our daily future). While I am not skilled at language, I am passionate about
clean and clear
delivery of messages. My dictionary’s and etymology dictionary’s are daily in use..as I seek to be sure I have the right language..the words that do justice to my message. And as I do this, and as the Positive Deviants around the world engage in world changing from the fringes, the need for new language becomes increasingly clear.
