Integrity Coaching? What is that?

Lets face it. We are all tempted at certain times, to do or say or be things that are NOT in alignment with who we are, or are working to become.

We can find ourselves suddenly sitting in a conversation where an absent third party is being maligned, through gossip or general slandering.

We can be asked to do something that is just a little off centre- marginally out of ethics.

We can be asked to do something that is really off centre.

We can be with a group of people who are doing things that violate our core values, and we say or do nothing.

We can find ourselves making promises that we really have no intention of keeping. To others, or, to ourselves.

We can be in an environment where the prevailing action is non action. Collusion by agreement.

We can find ourselves living in complaint, moaning about what is not working, not right, not good, not this or that....and we do nothing else but moan.

We can hear ourselves say...”No one will notice...” or “Its only small so it won’t matter” or “I’ll do this just this once.”

Jiminy Cricket is the small fictional Disney character that sat on Pinnochio’s shoulder and was his conscience, whispering into his ear when ever he did something bad.

What ever our version of poison, our actions lead us into the shadowy world of deception, guilt, lies, and lowered self esteem.

And it usually always starts with something small. Some little action that seems so minor and inconsequential. Some one said “Don’t sweat the small stuff!” In case of our personal integrity, sweating the small stuff is critical.

It is the little transgressions, the “little atrocities” that lead us down an increasingly darker path. Saying yes to the small things that we know mess with our values, allows saying yes to an even bigger transgression so much easier.

In senior management, politics, and high stratospheres of the entertainment business, it is common to find environments where many games of power, ego, deception, back stabbing, politics, and “the in club” are found. The waters can be highly treacherous, where one slip up can be extremely costly. Navigating these murky waters and keeping your integrity intact is the intention of Jiminy Cricket Integrity Coaching.

We say yes, but only under certain conditions.

Having your Jiminy Cricket Integrity coach is an essential requirement. Non negotiable. Whether the coach is one of your friends, family or Christine, is fine. Just be sure you have one.

Why?

Because the little atrocities can be so incredibly subtle, and seductive, that it takes the strongest most conscious person to resist the pull. And then it would be likely that they could only resist because they have people around them to shake them out of the seductive trance. Like a Jiminy Cricket Integrity coach.

So...if you want to stay in your own skin, true to your highest principles, able to work from your truth no matter how toxic the environment you are in, then do NOT attempt this on your own. No one makes intact and in integrity it in the high towers of political or corporate life without someone on the outside to keep clearing their head, realigning their heart, and keeping their truth grounded. No one!

Positive Deviants are not exempt. If anything, Positive Deviants benefit the most from a Jiminy Cricket Integrity Coach, because they get to reflect on just how much value their deviant ideas are. Too off the charts? Too left of centre? Or, do they need to tailor their Positive Deviance to suit the audience. Is their PD idea clean and clear-not buried in murkiness?And because Positive Deviants are the leaders of the future, they need to be kept on a clean path, to the highest possible degree. In their passion, it is easy for them to wake up and find that they have strayed.

In many cases, working with a Positive Deviant within an organisation or system that has an ethos of lies, deception, back stabbing, bullying, “do what I say not what I do”.....does allow the culture to turn towards more openness, transparency and honesty. The attraction factor of a PD working in extreme integrity without the ego stuff or righteousness, superiority, and self importance can be very strong, particularly if the PD is also producing outstanding results. If they get a few other people on board, willing to play straight, the attraction is magnified and the environment can become far more positive and less tolerant of the small backstabbing and bullying behaviour.

*Will tell you the truth, even if it is painful, AND will walk with you on your chosen path, creating a third party perspective that is free of personal motivations

*Because you are working with a Positive Deviant who happens to be a coach, you will be working with someone who relates to your experience and worldview

Are you suited to Jiminy Cricket Integrity Coaching?

You will usually be a very busy senior executive, politician or a successful entrepreneur, working in a fast paced, highly stressful environment with a significant amount of covert politics, one-up-man ship, bullying, back stabbing, power grabbing, collusion and other assorted issues. You often feel like a fish out of water. There may be only one or two people within your organisation you really relate to. Loneliness, isolation and marginalisation can be issues. You know you offer great value to your organisation, and this is usually recognised but with some caution, as peers and superiors are often threatened by you.

This is a one on one relationship, with minimum monthly meetings and may include the coach spending a day or more in an observer role.

The fee includes workbooks, audio material and other supplementary material relevant to your work, and a copy of the coaching sessions recorded for future reference (optional).

2. We will set up a time for a telephone meeting to discuss your unique requirements, and to be sure we have a strong match so our work together will be extraordinary. This meeting is at no charge.

3. We may schedule an appointment face to face at this time, depending on your requirements and logistics.

4. Once we have agreed to proceed, we will consider frequency, meeting times, and then determine the cost, based on your needs and requirements and the coach’s suggestions.

5. You will be asked to complete some simple forms and to make your initial payment (for large companies we will issue the invoice at commencement and agree to payment terms). Generally these forms take 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

6. We may agree to do some pre-work assessments, which can include shadowing you for a period of time to get to see how you interact at work and how people respond to you.

7. We also agree to the timing of review sessions- the frequency of reviews, who needs to be involved etc.

8. We set a date to get started, and off we go.
