An Integral Map Incorporating Spiral DynamicsWhy do we need an Integral Map and what is Spiral Dynamics? It would be a rare day that we would leave home and travel somewhere without knowing where we are going, or having some form of map. When we are in a new city, it is common to feel lost, disoriented. Getting a “lay of the land” increases our comfort and gives a greater sense of presence. It also means that we can streamline our actions, spending less time on getting unlost, and more time on walking a clear pathway. In our current world of the increasingly complex, a map of the territory is hard to come by, yet alone an integral map that looks at the world through multiple lenses and answers questions such as.... Why do people do what they do? What can we expect to happen next? How do we solve some of the greatest problems we currently face? What should I do next and why? Where am I located on this map? What is my Kosmic Address? What does that all mean? How do I work on my own development to create greater altitude? How do I support my team to have a greater altitude? Having an Integral Map provides ever increasing altitude. The higher our altitude perspective, the clearer our sight. If we are living in a valley, we can only see the goings on in the valley unless we climb to the top of the nearest mountain. This work is built around the work of some of the greatest thinkers of recent time. Ken Wilber and his AQAL model form a foundation. Clare Graves and the Spiral Dynamics model is incorporated into this. We also include the work of Buckminster Fuller, plus a few of my favourites. Caroline Myss’s archetypal work, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Robert Kegan, to name a few. We explore world views, states, stages, lines of intelligence, such as emotional, social, physical, spiritual, practical, theoretical, creative, scientific, etc, plus we look at types- which may be assessed using various tools such as standard Myers Briggs or DISC, or more esoteric tools such as astrology.
