Christine McDougall, a self described Positive Deviant, has spent the first 51 years of her life living in joyous curiosity, always seeking pathways that make sense of the world.
While she holds a Doctor of Chiropratic degree, she has consciously chosen to continue her studies via the non specialization, non traditional academic route.
In her late 20’s she was introduced to the work of Buckminster Fuller, a role model of Positive Deviance, and immediately found a teacher who demonstrated through his life and work, the level of integrity, joy, daring and scope that has continued to inspire Christine to this very day.
Self employed since the age of 24, and the single parent of an 21 year old daughter, Christine McDougall has had to at times, emerge through emergency. She understands implicitly the meaning of creativity.
With her original background in the health sciences, and a life long love of endurance sport such as ultra distance running and swimming, Christine McDougall has developed a profound atunement to the physical intelligence of the body. Health, along with curiosity, have been ever present foci in Christine’s life.
Until the age of 37, Christine put her hand to many different businesses, always seeking to find the best fit for her talents. From chiropractic to manufacturing to running a dive resort in the Pacific, Christine was uncompromising in her search.
In 1997, she was introduced to the new art and practice of coaching, and finally, a vocation that married all of her loves and skills. As is her pattern, she went at 1000 miles per hour, building a successful coaching business in a short space of time, in a time when coaching really only existed on the sports field. As a pioneer of the profession in Australia, and part of the group of world wide pioneers, Christine contributed her passion to the development of the International Coach Federation as a global body, and by becoming the inaugural Australasian President. She remained on the Board of the ICF for 5 years, insisting from day one that the “I” in ICF did stand for International. She was also the first Australian coach to receive the Master Certified Coach (MCC) designation, from ICF.
From 2000 Christine McDougall began working within the Australian Corporate environment, mostly in the banking and finance sector. She has worked with some of Australia’s largest companies.
Personal mastery is a quest she has maintained an unerring commitment to. All the while, Christine continues to work on her own PhD. If there is a major, it would be under the domain of comprehensive integrity, and what that means. Currently she is studying macro economics, the history of money, the history of God, human development theory, integral theory, world politics, new models for business organisation, and always, Buckminster Fuller. Her other most influential teachers are Ken Wilber and Caroline Myss. They both demonstrate uncompromising integrity in their work.
People who know Christine McDougall describe her using the following words - drive, discipline, dynamo, passionate, joyous, openness, curiosity, warmth, visionary, "Buckiminster Fuller itis", real time truth, assertive, quick, take people out of the square. Christine would add that she can be quick to anger, impatient, too meta, not enough micro, prone to withdraw, a workaholic and very hard on her self around success and achievement.
If she could summarize her intrinsic motivation it would be around supporting people to be at their highest level of personal integrity. This means success on their terms, without compromise to Integrity.
Recognising
that many people find speaking up when the chips are down exceedingly
difficult, she has spent the last 10 years teaching others how to have that conversation - the one they most avoid. She sees individual acceptance of shady half truths, political lies, and outright deception
as a fundamental cause for some of the global issues we face today.
However, while she is not backward in coming forward, Christine is also
passionate about doing so with great care and compassion, respecting the other person and always seeking to be of the highest service to them. She employs an integral approach
into her teaching. There is no one way to speak to everyone, rather we
must consider each person and the place they are at, when we engage with
them. This is part of what it takes to be masterful in our
conscious communication.
She has published an ebook, Speak the Truth, and supporting audio material.
Christine McDougall works with leaders and innovative entrepreneurs in many fields, corporate and political, challenging them to stay within the highest levels of their own integrity, even when the environment they are in keeps pulling them into murky waters.
Christine McDougall is a keynote speaker, leads group coaching sessions both live and virtual, writes a weekly blog, Guinea Pig C and runs ultra marathons around the world for fun.
At the core of her work is her continued work on herself and her own integrity.
